In a remote setting, utilizes the 3M 360 HDM software to assign codes within the Cerner electronic health record system for a progressive acute care two-hospital system located on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. Service type of records will primarily include inpatient records, however, can include service types of OP surgery, ED and outpatient accounts. May perform retrospective review of patient charts in the system.
Required Qualifications: Previous education, training and/or experience as a medical coder and/or successful completion of coder testing prior to employment.
Licensure: Active member of AHIMA or AAPC with credentials in any of the following considered: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, or, CPC-P
Experience: Previous experience in an acute care setting preferred. Proficiency in utilizing encoder and electronic health record systems also preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to code patient records and assigns ICD-10, and CPT codes with encoder. Understanding of basic computer skills and computerized coding software.
Licensure: Active professional credential with AHIMA or AAPC required.
Experience: Previous experience as a medical records coder required
Education: High school diploma or equivalency required. Minimum of 2 years of college preferred. Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Terminology coursework.
