Ortho Trauma CPT Coding: Navigating High-Risk Procedures and 2026 Code Changes (Tuesday, April 21, 2026)

You are invited to join us for an engaging and highly practical webinar, Ortho Trauma CPT Coding: Navigating High-Risk Procedures and 2026 Code Changes. This session is designed to equip coding and HIM professionals with the knowledge and confidence needed to accurately code complex orthopedic trauma cases while staying ahead of critical 2026 CPT updates.

Orthopedic trauma procedures often present some of the highest coding risks due to their complexity, evolving guidelines, and documentation challenges. This webinar will break down real-world fracture and trauma scenarios, clarify global surgical package considerations, and highlight key updates to CPT codes and descriptors taking effect in 2026. Attendees will gain actionable strategies to improve coding accuracy, ensure compliance, and reduce audit exposure through strong documentation practices.

Target Audience
This session is ideal for professional and outpatient hospital coders, coding auditors, HIM leaders and supervisors, and CDI specialists supporting orthopedic and trauma service lines.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Identify CPT coding challenges unique to orthopedic trauma surgery
• Apply core CPT principles to common fracture and trauma scenarios
• Distinguish global surgical package considerations in trauma cases
• Recognize new CPT codes and revised descriptions effective in 2026
• Reduce audit risk through documentation-driven code selection

Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your expertise in one of the most complex areas of coding and stay current with upcoming changes that will impact your daily work.

Featured Speaker
Vickie Humphreys, RHIT
Primeau Consulting Group

Continuing Education

This session aligns with AHIMA CE Domain 4: Revenue Cycle Management and is designed to meet AHIMA continuing education standards, including objectivity, scientific integrity, and freedom from commercial bias. 1.0 hours will be awarded.

CCS Bootcamp (Wednesday, June 10, 2026)

The CCS Bootcamp is offered as a special pre-conference workshop to the 2026 MSHIMA Annual Convention in Hattiesburg. Led by expert instructor Nena Scott, this intensive session is designed to prepare attendees for success on the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam while strengthening real-world coding proficiency.

Participants will build confidence in assigning accurate diagnosis codes at the highest level of specificity, guided by the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, including proper selection of principal diagnoses using UHDDS definitions. The workshop also provides a deep dive into the multiaxial structure of ICD-10-PCS, equipping attendees to correctly identify root operations and select appropriate body part, approach, and qualifier values.

In addition, participants will enhance their ability to accurately assign CPT codes for surgical procedures and apply modifiers correctly, ensuring compliance and precision in coding practice.

Please note that this registration is for those who wish to attend the CCS Bootcamp without attending the full conference. There is an option to register for the CCS Bootcamp within the main conference registration.
